We Didn’t Want to Build Another Motivational Space. We Wanted to Build SERVANTS

SERVANTS Muslim women community

There is no shortage of advice on the internet.

Open Instagram and someone will tell you how to heal. Scroll a little further and someone else will teach you how to become happier, more productive, more confident, more spiritual, or more successful.

Sometimes those words are exactly what we need. But sometimes, when our hearts are already tired, we do not need another person telling us how we should feel.

We need somewhere to pause. That thought has stayed with me while building SERVANTS.

What If You Don’t Need to Be Fixed?

One thing makes me uncomfortable about the way healing is sometimes presented online: the idea that there is something wrong with us that needs to be fixed as quickly as possible.

Thirty days to transform your life. Seven steps to happiness. Five habits that will make everything better. Real human beings are rarely that simple.

A woman can love Allah deeply and still have a difficult day. She can have tawakkul and still feel afraid. She can forgive and still need boundaries. She can pray and make du'a while also needing professional psychological support. She can be grateful for her life and still carry wounds that deserve attention.

And perhaps healing does not always mean becoming someone new. Perhaps sometimes it means understanding what we have been carrying, learning what needs to be released, and slowly returning to the person Allah created us to be.

That is the spirit behind SERVANTS.

Muslimah community

So, What Exactly Is SERVANTS?

SERVANTS is a space for women to reflect, learn, grow, and return to Allah, gently. The values behind it are simple:

  • Compassion without judgment.
  • Truth with kindness.
  • Sisterhood over competition.
  • Growth over perfection.

SERVANTS is not intended to replace therapy or professional mental-health care. It is not a place for diagnosing people. Nor do I want it to become a space where someone claims to have all the answers to another woman's life.

In fact, I believe a healthy community should be able to say: Ask us questions.

Ask about our intentions. Ask about our sources. Ask about the way we discuss Islam. Ask about the way we approach psychological subjects.

Vulnerability should never become an opportunity for someone else to gain control over us. A vulnerable heart is an amanah.

It Started With 30 Days of Gentle Reflection

Islamic self reflection

Our first journey was 30 Days of Gentle Reflection. For thirty days, we explored questions that are easy to overlook while life keeps moving, such as:  Where am I right now? What gives me life? What am I carrying? What masks do I wear? Whose voice am I following?

We reflected on gratitude, rest, fear, true joy, comparison, kindness and courage. Then the journey gradually turned our attention toward Allah through tawakkul, dhikr, mercy, hope, presence, muraqabah, acceptance and inabah.

Day 30 ended with Isti'dad aka Preparation. And I love that it ended there. Because 30 days were never supposed to be the finish line.

They were preparation for what came next.

And Now, We Go Deeper

healing and faith

The next phase is: 30 Days of Gentle Healing.

If reflection helped us notice what is happening within us, healing invites us to sit with what we have found. Not to rush it away. Not to pretend it never happened. And certainly not to promise that everything will disappear in 30 days.

Instead, this journey explores healing through faith, restorative virtues, Qur'anic wisdom, gentle practices, and compassionate sisterhood.

It is not “30 days until you are healed.” It is 30 days of making space for healing. There is a big difference.

“But I’m Not Comfortable Joining a Community.”

I understand this one. The word community can sound demanding.

Will I have to introduce myself? Will people expect me to tell them personal things? What if I don't feel like talking?

Here is something I want potential SERVANTS sisters to know:

  • You are allowed to be quiet.
  • You can enter the WhatsApp Channel and simply read.
  • You can reflect privately.
  • You can save something for later.
  • You can think about a question without telling anyone your answer.
  • You do not owe strangers your wounds simply because you entered a space about healing.
  • And if someday you want to participate more actively, you can.

There is room for the quiet sister too.

And if, one day, the SERVANTS WhatsApp Channel seems quiet, I hope we will remember that silence does not necessarily mean nothing is happening.

Not every woman who reads a reflection will react to it. Not everyone will reply, share her thoughts, or tell us what a particular message has stirred within her.

Some may read quietly before going to work. Some may save a reflection and return to it days later. Someone may close her phone and sit with a question she has avoided for years. Another may turn a few words into a private du'a that nobody else will ever hear.

We may never see those moments. And that is okay.

SERVANTS is not meant to measure every meaningful experience through likes, replies, or visible participation. Reflection is often an invisible process. A person can appear completely silent while something within her is being questioned, understood, softened, or slowly changed.

Of course, we should still listen, evaluate, and make sure that what we share is genuinely useful. Silence should not automatically be interpreted as success either. But neither should it immediately be interpreted as failure.

Sometimes a seed is doing its most important work long before anything appears above the soil.

So if the Channel becomes quiet, we will keep creating room without demanding proof that the room is being used.

Read quietly. Reflect privately. Take your time. You never owe SERVANTS a response for your reflection to matter.

Muslim women WhatsApp Channel

Why a WhatsApp Channel?

Instagram is wonderful for discovering ideas. But meaningful reflection can easily become another piece of content between a Reel, an advertisement, a meme, and someone's holiday pictures.

We wanted SERVANTS to have a quieter corner. That is why the WhatsApp Channel matters.

Instead of depending entirely on an algorithm to decide whether you see something, the Channel can become a small place you intentionally return to.

Read today's reflection. Put your phone down. Think. Write something if you want. Make du'a. Continue your day. Nothing dramatic needs to happen. Sometimes the smallest practices are the ones that stay.

I Don't Want You to Follow SERVANTS Blindly

Islamic emotional healing

This may sound strange in an article inviting you to join. But I don't want your blind trust. The internet already has enough confident voices asking vulnerable people to believe them. I would rather SERVANTS earn your trust slowly.

Read what we share. Think about it. Question it. Check the sources. Seek qualified scholars when something requires religious expertise and qualified mental-health professionals when something requires clinical care.

And remember that joining a community should never mean surrendering your own judgment. A good space should help you become more grounded—not more dependent upon it.

Maybe This Is Your Invitation

Perhaps you are doing perfectly well and simply want to understand yourself more deeply. Perhaps you are tired. Perhaps something from your past still follows you quietly. Perhaps you want to rebuild certain habits. Perhaps you have been longing to feel closer to Allah. Or perhaps you cannot even name what brought you here.

You don't need a dramatic reason. And you don't need to arrive as a better version of yourself. Come as you are. Read. Reflect. Learn. Question. Take what genuinely benefits you. And walk at your own pace.

Because SERVANTS isn't about creating women who need SERVANTS.

My hope is that it helps nurture women who know themselves better, recognize their responsibilities, seek sound knowledge, know when to ask for help, support other women with compassion, and keep returning their hearts to Allah.

Instagram may be where you discover us. The WhatsApp Channel is where we can continue the journey.

Welcome to SERVANTS. One gentle step at a time, in sha' Allah.

  4. Farida, I really love how you describe SERVANTS as a place where women don’t have to come as a “better version” of themselves. ❤️

The part about being allowed to be quiet really stayed with me. Sometimes we don’t need more advice, we simply need a safe space to pause, reflect, and breathe. I think that’s what makes this community feel different: it doesn’t promise to fix us, but gently reminds us to return to ourselves and to Allah, one step at a time. Such a beautiful and meaningful initiative, dear. 🤍

  5. Farida, I really connected with the idea that we don’t always need to become a “better version” of ourselves.

Sometimes we simply need a quiet space to pause, reflect, and understand what we’ve been carrying. I also love that SERVANTS doesn’t ask women to share everything or blindly follow—there’s room to be quiet, to question, and to grow at our own pace. That feels very human and, somehow, very comforting. ❤️

  6. It feels different from the usual motivational content that sometimes makes us feel as if we always need to “fix” ourselves. I especially love the reminder that healing does not have to be rushed, and that we are allowed to take our own time, reflect quietly, and return to Allah gently. The concept of a community where women can learn and support one another without judgment or competition is also beautiful. Sometimes, simply reading something at the right moment can touch our hearts, even without leaving a comment or reaction. Wishing SERVANTS a meaningful journey and hoping it becomes a safe and comforting space for many women

  7. We can't measure others' circumstances by our own standards, just as the shoes we wear may not fit someone else's feet.
Sometimes remaining silent and not commenting on others' life experiences is a way to support others on their healing journey.
